     Suicide Bereavement Peer Support Group    

A peer support group for individuals
who have lost a loved one to suicide

 

Meetings    

Meetings take place the second Monday of every month at 7 pm at the Kingston CMHA office, located at 6 Ordnance Street, Kingston.

Guiding Principles    

  • Group is facilitated by a trained Peer Supporter
  • Attendance is "as needed"
  • You may speak or not speak; it is your choice
  • Group members respect one another's confidentiality
  • If you feel uncomfortable with any topic, please feel free to leave the room for a break

  • The stigma of suicide in our society and the problems this creates for the survivor
  • How a loss to suicide differs from other forms of bereavement
  • Changes in roles and relationships that often happen after a suicide
  • Coping with special days and anniversaries
  • Rebuilding our lives
