H’art
believes education is a life-long undertaking that incorporates
and enhances all aspects of a person’s life.
Through experience, H’art recognized the fine arts help
our students achieve their literacy goals and increase transferable
skills.
Students spend half their time at H’art working on
art projects that reinforce their literacy lessons. Students
are encouraged to turn written sentences and stories into sketches.
Then, they turn these sketches into paintings, sculptures, and
other unique forms of expression including theatre and dance.
These artistic expressions are displayed in community galleries,
on stages, and other public forums to increase awareness and
opportunities for self-advocacy. You can see more examples of
the art created by our students by clicking
