college bound

H’art worked closely with the community for several years to develop new options in Kingston and this consultation evolved into a project with tremendous momentum and community support. A community advisory committee was established with the goal to push for an inclusive post-secondary education option in Kingston for students with intellectual disabilities by 2007. The committee's hard work paid off with some real results. Contact us today to learn more!

Do you want to get adults with special needs in your community to be college bound?

Why is it important? We believe students with intellectual disabilities would benefit from modified post-secondary education for reasons similar to other college students.

  • The opportunity for a wide variety of personal contacts and friendships
  • The development of self-identity through interactions and the opportunity for life-expanding experiences
  • Increased exposure to fields of interest and work or volunteer experiences
  • Increased independence and self-esteem
  • Enhanced quality of life

Excellent program models for post-secondary education for this population currently exist! You can:
