Position: Operations Supervisor

Reports To: Operations Manager

Kingston Access Services (KAS) provides specialized transit services to over 2,400 registered passengers in the City of Kingston through the Kingston Access Bus, and non-emergency patient transfer services through the Kingston Area Patient Shuttle service. Kingston Access Services is an independent non-profit organization funded by passenger fares, municipal funding, and donations. KAS is overseen by a Board of Directors consisting of passengers, members of the general public, and members of Kingston City Council.

Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Operations Supervisor who will be responsible for daily delivery of specialized transit services and non-emergency patient transfer services in accordance with operating standards that are safe and reliable. The Operations Supervisor supervises the daily operations of driving staff to ensure the service is provided on a daily basis according to client expectations, including supply, productivity, efficiency, training, customer service, and safety.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- High School diploma. Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, logistics, or transportation is a definite asset.

- Previous supervisory/management experience is an asset. Experience supervising/managing in public transit, intercity coach transportation, or student transportation is a definite asset. Please note: Applicants who do not have previous supervisory/management experience must clearly demonstrate on their resume or cover letter what qualifications they have to act as a Supervisor.

- Experience supervising in a unionized environment and fleet management are definite assets.

- Demonstrated ability to manage with a Safety First attitude. Strong knowledge of specialized transportation safety regulations is an asset.

- Experience working with AODA, 2005, Integrated Regulation 191/11 Integrated Accessibility Standards is an asset.

- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy is a must.

- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. Possess high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Ability to multi-task is essential.

- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills. A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid conflict resolution, and people management skills with both KAS employees and passengers.

- Availability to handle after-hours situations/emergencies, including responding on-site in a timely manner if necessary. Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm, steady demeanor while making confident decisions factoring in urgency, safety, public relations, and customer service.

- Able to build and maintain relationships, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with passengers, business partners, KAS staff, and government agencies.

- Proficiency in MS Office products. Experience working with RouteMatch scheduling software is a definite asset.

- Willingness to work with a flexible schedule. Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.

- Valid drivers license. Possessing a class B, C, E, or F license is a definite asset.

- Strong knowledge of City of Kingston streets, locations.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive compensation package ($38,000-43,000 annually), employer paid benefits including medical, dental, health, paid vacation, sick time, and RRSP benefits.
