Impressive numbers
Since the Kingston Operation Red Nose campaign was started in 1997, more than 5,428 rides have been safely completed by more than 2,588 volunteers. To date, more than $87,494.32 has been raised and donated to local literacy programs targeting youth. Last year's tenth annual campaign was a real success. A very generous 311 volunteers completed an astounding 657 rides during the 11-night campaign.

Donations totalled just over $13,211.95 which was divided up between local youth programs including the Canadian Diabetes Association's summer camp for children with diabetes, Theatre Quiproquo, Helen Tufts, 1ere Frontenac, Nursery School and host organization La Route du Savoir, the French Literacy Centre of Kingston's family literacy programs.

Nationally, Operation Red Nose has completed more than one million rides since the program started in 1984. About $1.1 million is donated annually to youth-related projects across the country.

Goals 2007
Operation Red Nose is operating for nine nights in 2007: Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, and 31. We hope to recruit 300 volunteers and complete 600 rides. We also hope to gain the support of 45 sponsors who will donate $20,000 in cash and in kind gifts to help fund the campaign.
