We hold in-person services in the church and we stream the services as well. For those attending in person, please see our guidelines on our Home page.   Come join in not just for the coffee and the food; come for the connection and fellowship. Coffee is on long before 9:00 a.m. (We meet the third Tuesday of every month.

    Euchre.

    Join others for a friendly game of Euchre in the church hall.

• Saturday, May 24th, 9:00 a.m. to Sunday, May 25th, 5:00 p.m.

  The church will hold an online auction. If you have new or gently used items to donate for this sale, please use the sign-up sheet in the church hall to let the fundraising committe know.

Announcements

• Nearly New Clothing & Accessories Sale

  The sale will be held on May 10th. We are looking for donations of clothing, footwear and accessories (scarves, jewelry, etc.) for the sale. We accept donations for women, men and children. Items must be clean, lightly-used, nearly new or never-used.

  If anyone has a clothing rack or knows of someone who has one that we can borrow for the sale, please let the fundraising committee know. There is a sign-up sheet in the church hall.

  Unsold items from this sale will be delivered to the Community Caring Shop in Verona. Profits generated at the Community Caring Shop are distributed to charitable organizations within South Frontenac.

• Two-Day Online Auction

  The church will hold an online auction Saturday, May 24th, 9:00 a.m. to Sunday, May 25th, 5:00 p.m. If you have new or gently used items to donate for this sale, please let the fundraising committee know. There is a sign-up sheet in the church hall.

• Sunday School Helpers

  We need adults to volunteer to help our Sunday School teacher in the Sunday School each week. There is a sign-up sheet in the church hall. You don't have to do any prep work; we just need an extra set of hands and eyes to help the children. Our Sunday School is one of the most treasured aspects of our community - please offer your occasional assistance.

• Membership at GUC

  Perhaps you are new to our church family; or perhaps you have been among us for a long while but never made it official. Either way, we are delighted to have you worshipping with us. If you are interested in becoming a member, "New Members Classes" will be offered soon. This is an opportunity to learn a little more about our faith and our church. If you are interested, please speak to Rev. Elizabeth Boehm-Wilson.

• Craft Sale

  Oh, Ye Crafty Crafters, have you remembered that we will have a church table at the Craft and Bake Sale in November? Your donations of your time and skills in making items for our table will see the proceeds go to support our church. Thanks!

• Scent Free

  In consideration to some members of our congregation, please refrain from wearing scented products to church.

• Car Pooling

  If you are interested in getting or giving a ride to church on Sunday mornings, please leave your name and number at the office.

• Leading Prayers

  Would you be willing to take an occasional turn leading the Prayer of the People in our worship service — lifting up the thanksgivings and concerns of this congregation before God and on behalf of all of us? Please let Rev. Elizabeth Boehm-Wilson know if you are willing. Thank you.

• Church Email List

  Do you have an email address? Would you like to receive occasional updates from the church regarding upcoming events or news? To get on this mailing list, simply email Rev. Elizabeth Boehm-Wilson with your email address.

• Book Sharing

  Many people have expressed an interest in sharing books they have read, and many have read books that have been used as references in sermons. These books are already being shared within the congregation. Rev. Elizabeth Boehm-Wilson has placed a small shelf for books beside the memorial case in the hall, and people have begun putting books for sharing on that shelf. Please borrow a book, enjoy it, then return it to the shelf for others to borrow.

• GUC Workings

  If you would like to know how the committee structure functions at Glenburnie United Church, please consult the Governance Guide. A hardcopy is available in the church office. If you would like to know what the current issues are, minutes from the meetings of both Session and Stewards can be found in the office, too. If you have a question or are looking for other information, please ask someone from the Official Board and they will be happy to get the information for you or refer you to the right person to answer your question.

• Time and Talents

  Do you have time and talents that you are ready to share, but no one has contacted you? If you could help (baking from home, setting up tables, etc.) with any of the events convened by the UCW, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board or contact a UCW member. We greatly appreciate the generous support we have received and continue to receive from the congregation.

• Food Bank Sunday

  We have designated the fourth Sunday of each month as Food Bank Sunday. On that Sunday, please bring non-perishable food and we will get your donations to the South Frontenac Community Food Bank. Please put your donations in our food-bank wagon in the narthex, right outside the sanctuary doors.

  The items needed most are canned tomatoes, tuna & canned meats, chunky soups, peanut butter, canned vegetables & baked beans, pasta sauce & pasta, canned fruits, cereal & crackers.

  Thank you to the couple in our congregation who donated the shiny green wagon for us to use for food bank collections!

• Bulletin Board

  Please check the bulletin boards for new posters advertising upcoming events. One board is outside the kitchen; the other is across from the office.

• Scripture Readers

  Would you like to read scripture on Sunday morning? If so, there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board across from the office. Please add your name to the list and include your phone number or email address.

• Offering Envelopes

  Offering envelopes are available. If you don't already have them, please ask! Using the envelopes helps our weekly Offering counters and our bookkeeper. It also ensures your Offering is accurately tracked for tax receipt purposes.

• This Church's Ministry Depends on You and Me

  The ministry of this church (worship, pastoral care, outreach projects, benevolence, our support of the UCC Mission & Service, and the hospitality offered by our building) is made possible with your financial support. We are grateful to you for the many ways you share your gifts of time, talent and treasure. Together we serve as the body of Christ in our community.
