Outreach Committee
-
- Meeting Day
- Meetings are called as necessary
The Outreach Committee liaises between Glenburnie United Church and the Glenburnie and surrounding communities. To this end we plan practical ways to reach out to others. Here are some examples. We collect donations of food from the Glenburnie area homes for the Southern Frontenac Community Services annual Food Drive. We help the Salvation Army pack Christmas hampers. We help the Fairmount Nursing Home. We collect a variety of items for Kingston Interval House.
We welcome participants! Please let the church office know if you are interested in serving in this way. And please remember our Glenburnie Mission and Outreach Projects.

Additional Glenburnie Mission and Outreach Projects
We collect the following:
-
Eye glasses for distribution in developing countries.
We have collected hundreds of eye glasses and taken them to an optometrist who arranges to have them shipped to developing countries around the world where they are distributed to those who are desperately in need of them.
-
Used postage stamps.
Our congregation has collected thousands of postage stamps that are taken to retired Girl Guide Leaders who trim them to the appropriate size and pass them along to the wife of a retired Presbyterian minister who then gives them to the Bible Society.
The trolley for collecting these valuable donations can be found in the church hall. If you don't see the trolley, it is in the closet next to the choir room. Please put donated items in the appropriate drawer (the drawers are labelled). Thanks!
Please continue to collect and deliver pop or beer cans (tabs on) or e-waste for Habitat for Humanity and help to build another home for a needy family. The cans may be left at the local Habitat for Humanity location at 607 Gardiners Road.
Please Note Re: Campbell's Soup Labels (April 18th, 2017)
Campbell Canada is discontinuing the LFE program. They are asking churches and other groups to no longer save labels for Campbell Canada.
