Mission & Service Fund
The Mission and Service Fund is our faith in action!
The M&S fund is a national fund of the United Church of Canada which supports the wider work of the United Church in Canada and around the world. The M&S fund is made up entirely of the voluntary contributions of members of the United Church. These contributions become the power by which our church is able to accomplish so much at home in Canada and throughout the world. Here are a few areas where the M&S funds are used.
- Theological education
- Ecumenical relationships
-
Global partnerships in over 30 countries
- Expert staff are on site in most global areas, but we must be ready to send our Overseas Personnel for support when needed and requested in these Global Mission Partnerships. We currently support partners in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Emergency relief response
- Church renewal and new church development
- Support for operations of 13 Conferences across Canada
Closer to home, in 2006 and for the first time ever, the Bay of Quinte Conference surpassed its goal of $3 million dollars. In the Bay of Quinte Conference, M&S funding supported:
- Six pastoral charges, two of which are:
- In our Kingston Presbytery, the Plevna/Ompah Charge
- In the Belleville Presbytery, St. Mathew's Ministry with the Deaf
- Six chaplaincies, two of which are in Kingston:
- KGH Chaplaincy
- HIV-AIDS Ministry out of KGH, the Prisons and Homes
- Three church-based outreach ministries
- A campus ministry
- Five community-based programmes through mission support grants
- Grants for technology improvements and manse renovations
The M&S Fund is one opportunity for us to give back to God some of what we have been blessed with financially. It is the United Church's vehicle for raising the funds we need to be the church here in Canada and around the world. Please continue to support your M&S Fund. It is your faith in action.
